- Santiago Sierra or, Art in a Post-Fordist Society

The article by Carlos Jimenez analyzed the work of Spanish artist Santiago Sierra, who has lived in Mexico. Jimenez starts with the Fordist concept that drove forward the economy and its later crisis in order to establish the indicatives that originate an aspect of Sierra’s work, through an explication of several of his projects, such as the Arrojafuegos. Carlos Jimenez unveils in this way the political, social and contextual motivations that support Santiago Sierra’s work. Read the article




- Cantos / Cuentos Colombianos: An exhibition of Colombian Art from the Daros–Latinamerica Collection.

Daros–Latinamerica, one of the most important collections of contemporary Latin American art, presented Cantos / Cuentos Colombianos, a selection of contemporary Colombian art in the collection, with works by José Alejandro Restrepo, Óscar Muñoz, Nadin Ospina, Doris Salcedo, Oswaldo Macía, Juan Manuel Echeverría, Fernando Arias, Rosemberg Sandoval, María Fernanda Cardoso. The III Salon de Arte ExxonMobil (III ExxonMobil’s Art Exhibition) of Venezuela presented in this edition “Hombre y Sociedad / El hombre y su circunstancia social” (Men and Society / Men and his social circumstance), a show where artists from all of Venezuela’s geography participated and a special interest was placed of integrating the entities and individuals involved in the capital and regional cultural work. The second edition of the Contemporary Art Biennial in Seville, directed by Juana de Aizpuru will have renown curator Okwui Enwezor as artistic director.
