- 10th Havana Biennial. Havana, Cuba.

More than 200 artists from 43 countries will gather at the 10th Edition of the Havana Biennial to take place in Havana, between March 27 and April 30, 2009. The central theme will be integration and resistance in the face of the global era. With this, Edition the Biennial will celebrate twenty five years since its foundation. It will pay homage to certain artists who have contributed to the development of Latin American art, such as León Ferrari, Fernell Franco, Antonio Ole, Sue Williamson, Wilfredo Lam, and Raúl Martínez. - Prizes Awarded at the Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American Isthmus (BAVIC), Honduras

Nicaraguan artist Marcos Agudelo won the first prize of the Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American Isthmus (BAVIC, its Spanish acronym), which he received in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa. This Nicaraguan artist and architect was awarded for his video-installation entitled A la Tumba Perdida de Andrés Castro, los Héroes sin Tumba de Nicaragua (To the Lost Grave of Andrés Castro, the Lost Graveless Heroes of Nicaragua). PHotoEspaña, in association with the AECID (Spain’s international aid and development agency), now presents two new portfolio reviews at the Centro Cultural de España in Lima and Mexico City Deadline : 11 January 2009. The 11th International Call for young artists is now open at the Luis Adelantado Gallery. It is directed at national and international young artists between the ages of 24 and 36 years. . Those interested must apply before May 15 of 2009 and must include an A4 size dossier with their recent work, or a CD with images. Read more

The Gilberto Alzate-Avendaño Foundation announces its call for international curatorial residencies, aimed at developing encounters, and extending and consolidating international relations and artistic exchanges. The call welcomes international curators interested in developing a curatorial research project in the city of Bogotá. Proposals must be sent before December 12. Read more
