- Work by Velázquez found at MET in New York. New York, U.S.

Following a thorough cleaning and technical examination, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has declared that the painting formerly ascribed to the workshop of Velázquez is actually a work by the Spanish master himself. The painting – part of the Museum’s collection since 1949 – could very well be a self-portrait, according to experts. More about this news




- CIRCA PR announces new dates for its next edition and agreement of cooperation with Art Beijing

The CIRCA PR Fair, which from its foundation celebrates its editions in the month of April, announces that it has transferred the dates of its next editions to January 29 and to February 1, 2010. The organizers have expressed their interest in beginning the calendar of fairs each year, after the activities of Art Basel Miami Beach, thereby offering visitors the excellent climate conditions in Puerto Rico. Call for entries

- The Escola Sao Paulo Independent Program. Brazil

The Escola Sao Paulo Independent Program – PIESP, has the duration of one year. The program is directed to young artists or those who are beginning their career. Conceptualized and created by curator Adriano Pedrosa, the PIESP Program will promote meetings between young artists and Brazilian leading artists and curators to discuss language and project development.

The enrollment selection for the PIESP is now open and will close December 11, 2009. The Program starts in March 2, 2010. Read more



- Fourth International Art Prize “Arte Laguna:” Painting, Sculpture, and Photography

Aimed at evaluating and promoting contemporary art, the MoCA (Modern Contemporary Art) Cultural Association, in collaboration with the Studio Arte Laguna, announces the Fourth Edition of the International Art Prize “Arte Laguna.” Applications must be submitted by regular mail no later than November 15, 2009, and no later than November 26, 2009, if submitted online.
