- PHotoEspaña OjodePez announces the winner and the finalists of Human Values Award 2010. Spain

The winner of the award Giuseppe Moccia has received 6,000 euros and the opportunity to participate with a solo exhibition in PHotoEspaña 2011 with his series The Wednesday Kid. The finalists are Marco Di Lauro, Munem Wasif, Álvaro Laiz García, Alessandro Imbriaco, Jacob Aue Sobol, Carlos Luján, Jackie Dewe Mathews, Alexa Brunet and David Rengel. More about this news







- The artist Claudia Calle received the International Photography Award. Miami

The Colombian artist Claudia Calle, who lives in Miami, was recently awarded with the first place in the International Photography Award (IPA). Calle’s Republic of China series was selected by International Photo Awards among 15,000 submissions spanning 103 countries. The pieces, which fuse photography with collage and acrylic on wood, were further hand-picked by curator Adriana Teresa to appear in the IPA. The artist will showcase a series of socio-cultural images, which represent China’s controversial mass production issues, globalization, copyrights and propaganda. Complete works of Calle’s Republic of China will be on view until October 9, 2010 at Luis Perez Galeria / Awarehouse, Miami, FL.

The PIESP - Independent Study Program for the arts, aiming to develop artists' projects, was conceived and directed by Adriano Pedrosa, curator of the 12th International Istanbul Biennial. The one-year program is structured as critical seminars, lectures and individual meetings between participating artists and Brazil's leading artists and curators, in which their language and projects are discussed and developed. The Jean-Claude Reynal Foundation, under the auspices of the Foundation of France, in collaboration with the Fine Arts School of Bordeaux, offers an annual grant of 10,000 euros to enable a young artist, who works directly on paper, to travel to a country of his/her choice for a period of 6 months maximum. From Panama City she made several exhibition projects between 1996 and 1998, in partnership with cultural organizations, institutions and private companies. She then operated her own space, The Golden Bough gallery, for eight years, presenting artists from different states and nationalities working in various artistic trends. Carrasco demonstrated a style of personalized attention, was widely studied and shared information about the artists.
