The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MARCO) celebrates twenty years of promoting Latin American and international art and culture. Located in downtown Monterrey, the museum opened its doors to the public on June 28, 1991. With an area of 16,000 square meters (172,222.56 square feet), the building was designed by architect Ricardo Legorreta.

Sacred Gold. Pre-Hispanic Art From Colombia

The exhibition entitled Sacred Gold. Pre-Hispanic Art From Colombia will be on display until September 4, 2011 at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao. Sponsored by BBK (Bilbao, Bizkaia Kutxa, Caja de Ahorros de Bilbao y Vizcaya) and jointly produced by the Banco de la República and the Museo del Oro in Colombia, the exhibition includes 253 pieces made in gold, silver, ceramics, and stone from the permanent collection of the Museo del Oro of the Banco de la República in the Colombian capital.

Obituary

Paulo Reis

Curator, co-director of DARDO magazine, and a promoter of culture, Pablo Reis died on April 23, 2011 at the Egas Moniz Hospital in Lisbon. Born on November 9, 1960, Reis resided in Lisbon where he directed the CARPE DIEM-Arte e Pesquisa art space, an institution dedicated to the production of exhibitions.

6th International Banner Biennial ES2010

The 6th Banner Biennial, held last November in the city of Tijuana, became once again a space for the confrontation and revision of the work of artists from a variety of origins. As happens every two years, the event's chief curator, Marta Palau-who recently received Mexico's National Arts Award-convoked a group of 37 artists mostly from Brazil, Cuba, Chile, the US, Nicaragua, Argentina, and Mexico, with special emphasis on artists residing in the border zone.
