ABCA Awards
The Brazilian Association of Art Critics (ABCA, in its Portuguese acronym) announced, on April 22nd, the names of the visual artists, curators, critics, authors, and cultural institutions recognized by ABCA 2012.
Tania Candiani and Gilberto Esparza
Tania Candiani’s project Cinco variaciones de circunstancias fónicas y una pausa at Laboratorio Arte Alameda received the Award of Distinction in the “Hybrid Art” category at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria.
Cildo Meireles
Through September 29, 2013, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS), Porto’s Fundaçao Serralves, and Milan’s Hangar Bicocca, will present a traveling exhibition of works by Cildo Meireles at the Palacio de Velázquez in Parque del Retiro.
Eugenio Dittborn in Europe
Until September 1, with the support of the Alexander and Bonin Gallery in New York, the Museum Het Domein in Holland presents Your Letters. Airmail Paintings 1986–2012, an exhibition that includes the series of airmail paintings created by the Chilean artists between 1986 and 2012.
Enio Iommi
“My pleasure would be to burn down my entire oeuvre. My last work, a great bonfire”.
Iommi was born in Rosario, Argentina, in 1926 and has his beginning in the arts in his father’s workshop, an Italian-born sculptor graduated from the Brera Academy in Milan.
