2013 AICA. Venezuelan Chapter
This year, the AICA awards to notable artists for 2013 come with a long delay, as happened with many other important events that had to be postponed due to the violent events in Venezuela during the first semester of 2014.
Crossroads of Dystopia, Leonel Matheu
Crossroads of Dystopia, a solo exhibition of works by Leonel Matheu, opened on July 12 and will remain on view at Florida International University´s Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum through October 19, 2014.
Ambulante Foundation Arrives In Colombia
The Ambulante Foundation, dedicated to supporting and promoting documentary filmmaking, is arriving in Colombia. This non-for-profit organization was established in 2005 by Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna, Pablo Cruz, and Elena Fortes.
Elma Pignalosa
Painter and sculptor Elma Pignalosa (Bogota, 1945¿2014) was an important Colombian artist who exalted the landscape, the human figure and the still life through pictorial and sculptural works. Although always present in the history of art, in her work those themes were the result of a continuous and permanent exploration centered on color, light, form, and on an innovative interpretation of space and matter.
4th International Video Art Festival
FIVA (the International Video Art Festival, in its Spanish acronym) is inviting artists of any nationality to participate in the fourth edition of its event. Interested participants can submit, individually or as a group, up to two works on any subject before August 22, 2014.
Work by Carlos Cruz-Díez Accidentally Destroyed
Regional authorities from the department of the Vendée accidentally destroyed the sculpture Colonne Chromointerférente by Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Díez, located by the doors of the La Roche-sur-Yon College in the western area of France.
