Wifredo Lam
On the occasion of Wifredo Lam's exhibition at Museo Reina Sofia, Catherine David, Curator and Deputy Director of the Musée National d'Art Moderne, Centre Pompidou, talks about the artist and his work.

The exhibition traces from the beginning, the relationship with avant-gardes, various stages, and the progressive integration of his work developed between Spain, France and Cuba. This presents the artist's career through approximately 250 works.

Catherine David, emphasizes that the transregional development of the artist, makes it impossible to classify his work as a product of Cuban Art, Afro-Cuban or Latin; stating that he must be considered fully interregional and international.

The exhibition will remain open until August 16, 2016. It will then travel from Madrid to Tate Modern, where it runs from September 2016 to January 2017.
