Amy Galpin, PhD, appointment as The Patricia & Phillips Frost Art Museum new curator
The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU, the Smithsonian Affiliate in Miami, announces the appointment of Amy Galpin, PhD, as the museum’s new Curator. In her role at the Frost Art Museum FIU.
Tarsila do Amaral: Inventing Modern Art in Brazil
From February 11 to June 3 of 2018, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City presents the first solo exhibition in the US focused on the work by Tarsila do Amaral (Brazil, 1886–1973), a central figure in Brazilian modernism.
Gonzalo Fonseca
The retrospective exhibition of the sculptural work of Gonzalo Fonseca (1922–97), at Noguchi Museum, will be ending next March 11, 2018. The exhibition encompasses some 80 objects, primarily works in stone from the mid-1960s to the 1990s.
New biennial in Oslo for 2019
Oslo’s Agency for Cultural Affairs announced on January 29th the launch of the city’s first public art biennial, with the inaugural edition set to take place in May 2019.

Phillips will integrate the Latin American auction
After a notable year for Phillips Latin American Art Department, marked by auction records, partnerships and growth, the auction house announced it will discontinue its Latin American auction and integrate the Latin American artists lots to its 20th Century and Contemporary Art sales.

Leandro Erlich, Le Bon Marché, Paris Sous le ciel (Under the Sky)
Commissioned by the famous Parisian Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche department store (the first large department store in Paris, since its revamp in 1852), and following other spectacular installations by Wei Wei (2016) and Chirahu Shiota (2017), two artists whose careers are also closely associated with the French capital.


Tarsila do Amaral

Video produced by the MoMA featuring a conversation with Luis Pérez-Oramas that offers insight into Tarsila do Amaral's artistic development, ideas and importance for Brazilian art as well as for the art of the entire American continent. Undoubtedly a figure that was ahead of her time, this is the first exhibition in the US completely dedicated to her work.
