In the third edition of the Lima Biennial, the assemblage was much more careful and rational than the ones exhibited in previous editions, according to Rosina Cazali’s analysis of the international and national participation of the Biennial and through her description of the presented works. From the outset, Artur Barrio´s artwork has been a part of the renewal of Brazilian art, among other reasons because his interventions stopped focusing on conventional creations and traditional forms of art. - Recovery of Stolen Artworks.
Due to the number of artworks that have illegally departed from Italy, the government of the country is taking actions for their recovery. Lead by the Italian Ministry of Culture, the investigation commissions have been carried out in different countries. Read more


- Dead Dogs in Artworks Cause Controversy in Chile.
The Chilean artist Antonio Becerra has brought up polemics around his recent works involving dead dogs found by the artist at highway roads. The artist mummified and painted the corpses to later pinch them with pins and spikes. The complete story

- The LACMA Acquires Important Drawing by Diego Rivera
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was granted a significant drawing by Diego Rivera as a gift from an anonymous donor. Huicholes, is a large scale charcoal on canvas, dated 1951, in which two Mexican musicians of indigenous origin are represented. Read more

- Ramón Oviedo was awarded the “Arts and Letters Order”
On August 14th the French government awarded Dominican artist Ramón Oviedo with the “Arts and Letters Order,” thus becoming the first Dominican artist to receive such a high distinction.

  • Jacqueline Barnitz author of the text Twentieth-Century Art of Latin America, obtained the Vasari 2002 Award. The Vasari Award, granted by the Art Museum of Dallas, Texas, will be given to Jacqueline Barnitz on the 26th of September. That same day, the author will give a conference. Barnitz obtained an Honorable Mention from the Association for Latin American Art (ALAA) for her book. Furthermore it was selected by the American Library Association as one of “The Best of the Best from University Presses”. You may shop for this book in our store


  • Armando Morales Americo Arte Editores presents the most exhaustive and best illustrated book ever published on the Nicaraguan artist. Texts by Lily Kassner and the introduction by Carlos Fuentes, bring us closer to the art world of Morales. The text gathers bibliography, biographical notes, a curriculum and an index of works. With more than 200 pages, this monograph shows a large portion of the artist’s work. Written in Spanish and English. The book was sold out at the editorial company, but you can find it in our store.

  • Botero SculpturesThough creators of their own aesthetic, Botero´s sculptures evoque, without mistake, his singular pictorial world. The characteristic volume of his figures becomes touchable in the strong sensuality of his sculpture´s shapes. This book, with text by Jan Clarence Lambert gathers the largest show of sculptures by Botero, from the earliest ones of the 1970´s through the most recent, with a special focus on monumental sculptures that conformed the traveling exhibition that transformed parks, plazas and avenues from the main cities around the world, into living museums.
