The Fundación ARCO Grants Its 22nd "A" Awards for Collecting

Madrid, Spain

The Fundación ARCO, supported by IFEMA, has granted the "A" Awards for Collecting. The six awards presented in this 22nd edition of the event recognize individuals and institutions for the artistic value of their collections as well as for their efforts towards the dissemination of contemporary art.

The award recipients are: The Alicia Koplowitz–Grupo Omega Capital Collection, mostly consisting of art created between the 16th and 21st centuries, a wide-ranging offer that accommodates followers of the old masters as well as those interested in contemporary artists; the Col.lecció Per Amor a l'Art, for opening the Bombas Gens exhibition space, in Valencia; Portuguese collector Armando Martins and his family, for showing their collection every year in May at the Palácio do Correiro–Mor; the Colección Ella Fontanals Cisneros for the exposure that its collection and the Fundación CIFO have given to Latin American artists; and, also for their 20th century Latin American Art Collection, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, which will soon inaugurate a new wing dedicated to that collection; and the collection of Brazilian Luis Paulo Montenegro, currently on display until May of 2018 at the Fundación Banco Santander. All the recipients of the award were chosen for their contributions to contemporary culture.

The award ceremony will be held at the Teatro Real on Tuesday, February 20,  followed by a dinner sponsored by the Grupo Canalejas to raise funds for the acquisition of works for the ARCOmadrid collection.
