The Faculty of Arts and Humanities' Department of Art of the Universidad de los Andes is seeking to hire a full-time permanent professor in the area of Electronic Media and Arts of Time. Applicants who fulfill the requirements must submit their applications before April 1, 2018.


The candidates selected must be able to teach basic and advanced undergraduate courses, general education courses, creation and research seminars in their fields of study, and offer academic advice for degree projects. Professors must also participate in the activities and development of the Department, Faculty and University and, therefore, their initiatives are expected to contribute to the formulation of projects that enrich the university space.


The area of Electronic Media and Arts of Time promotes the development of artistic proposals in audiovisual and electronic media, sound media and live art (performance), based on an intermediary, experimental and interdisciplinary focus that allows for the exploration of the technical, aesthetic, and social dimensions of those approaches within the context of culture and contemporary art. The candidate selected will participate in the Masters in Visual, Electronic, and Temporal Arts (MAPET, its Spanish acronym) inaugurated in January of 2018.


Requirements:


•MA degree in any of the Arts and Media variants.


•Creative and artistic experience.


•Teaching experience.


Qualifications:


•Knowledge and willingness to participate in the mission and vision of the Universidad de los Andes.


•Understanding the mission and vision of the Art Department of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.


•Ability to propose practical and theoretical courses for the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as for general education.


•Artistic and teaching experience.


•Artistic and educational initiative.


•Interest in developing a teaching career.


•Being a working artist.


•Ability to work in groups constructively.


Profile:


Audiovisual arts: creative experience, artistic trajectory and advance technical and audiovisual knowledge in at least three of the following modalities of audiovisual work for artistic contexts: experimental video, animation, digital composition, video installation, and live arts.


Technical knowledge, including: camera handling, lighting, digital editing, matte painting, post-production, F/X, set design and visual narratives.


Possible courses: audiovisual installation, experimental video, animation, workshop of time, intermedial workshop, experimental expression, and a theoretical lecturing course open to the university community, among others. He/she must also participate in graduate courses and advisories for both undergraduate and graduate projects.


The call concludes with a pre-selection of the candidates, followed by an interview, a class or workshop, and a public conference with the finalists.


The selection will be entrusted to a committee formed by the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the director of the Arte Department, and a group of professors from the Department of Art of the Universidad de los Andes.


Finalists will be notified by email.


Interviews, conferences, and classes will take place during the second week of May.


The final results of the call will be announced to the participants during the last week of May.
