Visual Arts Grants
Fundación Botín

As it has been doing yearly since 1993, the Fundación Botín invites artists from any nationality to compete for eight visual arts grants that support education, research and the development of personal projects in the field of artistic creation (non-theoretical works). Two of the eight grants will favor Spanish nationals or residents—living in Spain for at least five years immediately before submitting the application for the call—under the age of 30, who wish to travel abroad to continue developing their work, furthering their studies, or to complete artistic residencies.

Each of the grants consists of a purse of 23,000.00 euros aimed at promoting and supporting artists in need of resources to develop research or educational projects. These economic supports are direct, indivisible, and non-transferable. They do not cover family benefits.

The jury will be formed by art professionals and experts, including prominent international art critics and curators who will be entrusted with selecting the winning projects.

The grants will cover a nine-month period. An extension can be requested if the grant has taken place away from the place of origin. Candidates seeking the extension must submit a new application within the dates of the public call, which will be reviewed along with the other applications and subjected to the same requirements.

The deadline to submit all applications is May 4, 2018. Applications will be received at: or The additional paperwork must be submitted in print and addressed to Becas Artes Plásticas.

The winners will be announced beginning on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the foundation's homepages.
