Milton Becerra Presents His Work at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima (MAC)

31/May/2018

Lima, Peru

From May 17 to October 7, 2018, Venezuelan artist Milton Becerra (Táchira, 1951) presents for the first time his multi-dimensional work at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima (MAC). Titled Sinfonía del Universo (Symphony of the Universe) the site specific piece is based on the study of nature and its mathematical structure. The installation conveys Becerra's constant preoccupation for the relationships between planes, space, and volumes. String plays a central role as a structural element of his work. He ties it to a rock that represents a center of energy, provoking the irradiation of the lines drawn across the space and simulating the orbits of gravity-defying rocks.

The work by Milton Becerra is research and performance oriented. It is approached from disciplines like sculpture, installation, painting, photography and digital images, and involves research trips. He gradually weaves forms from diverse and distant temporal-space sources that result in the same relationships reflected on the prodigious framework of the universe. In this manner, Becerra brings America's past, the discoveries of quantum physics theories, and the myths about the first prehistoric tools, closer to his contemporary art proposals.
