For the 50th consecutive year, the call for the National Culture Awards, organized by the Universidad de Antioquia (UdeA), recognizes artistic creation and expression in a demonstration of the institution's commitment to intercultural dialog and to a space that favors the interaction of different publics with artworks and their authors.


These awards are also a way of preserving and disseminating the core values of Colombian artists and cultural promotors who conceive, research, and represent everyday life and its realities through their practices.


It is with these arguments that the UdeA invites creators and researchers to submit their proposals in the following modalities by Friday, June 29, before 4:00 pm:


•36th National Literature Award in the modality of short story.


•44th National Arts Salon Award.


•8th National Research and Cultural Management Award in the modality of cultural studies.


•Campus 50 Award, monumental sculpture.


 


Who is eligible to participate?


a.Colombian citizens over the age of eighteen (18) who live in Colombia or abroad.


b.Foreigners with a minimum of two (2) years of uninterrupted residence in Colombia, with official proof of residence issued by the municipal authority. Art groups must submit photocopies of the ID documents of each of their members.


c.Groups formed by two or more natural persons that have formalized an alliance to nominate themselves for one or several awards within this call. In this case, those members designated to represent the group will serve as signatories. The submission of a signed application form implies the participants' acceptance of the conditions established by the call. Therefore, proposals with unsigned application forms will not be accepted.


d.Legal entities.


e.Winners of earlier editions of the call, as long as they do not participate in a category that they have already won.


f.Participants in earlier editions of the call.


What are the requirements for the submitted works?


a.Proposals must be original and never before published (partially or in their entirety, including in digital media).


b.Must not have been awarded before.


c.Must not be simultaneously participating in other competitions.


d.Must not be already part of the selection, exhibition or similar processes by other institutions, companies, or editorials.


e.Applicants must be able to demonstrate the authorship of the works and the ownership of proprietary rights if necessary, in accordance with current regulations on intellectual property.


Award winners will receive a purse of $23,437,260.00 COP (equivalent to 30 minimum monthly wages in Colombia). Additionally:


•The winner of the 44th National Arts Salon will have a prominent presence in the National Arts Salon of the Museo Universitario of the Universidad de Antioquia. The other preselected works will also be featured at the Salon.


•The winner of the 8th National Research and Cultural Management Award will be awarded the publication of his/her work in a 400 copy-print run of which 25 copies are for the author.


•The winner of the 36th National Literature Award in the modality of short story will also be awarded the publication of his/her work in a 400 copy-print run of which 25 copies are for the author.
