On the occasion of the traveling exhibition titled "Under the Same Sun" organized by the Museo Jumex, Julieta González, head curator of the Museum, along with Pablo León de la Barra, curator of the exhibition, have a conversation about their understanding of Latin American Art, artistic practices and the curatorial approach for the exhibition.

Julieta González stresses that the term Latin American art is controversial and tends to homogenize the various perspectives offered by artists and their countries. She also references and shares a point of view by Jorge Glusberg, who during the 1960s and 1970s affirmed that rather than the concept of Latin American art?non-existent in his view?Latin American art must be approached as a problem. González underscores that each problematic is worked and approached in a different manner for each artist, as the works in the exhibition are used as referents.

Pablo de la Barra talks about his curatorial exercise and shares his interest not solely in showcasing contemporary art in Latin America, but also in connecting it to the artists from the 1960s and 1970. Artists who like other creators today used the visual arts to address the social, political and formal issues of their time. It is a way of opening and offering ample perspective on the origin of an important part of the history of art in Latin America.
